No matter how strong you started this year, chances are the pandemic crushed your optimism and ambitions. We catch up with the founder of CLEAN ZONE PH, Jordan Patente, to get his views on how to endure and recover from the crisis.

What is your business and what do you offer?

Clean Zone Ph is in the business of elevating cleaning and disinfection experience of every Filipino. We offer the following services:  disinfection service, cleaning & sanitation services:  carpet, upholster & mattress cleaning, office deep cleaning, home cleaning, grease trap cleaning and we are franchising the business nationwide.

What opportunities did you lose when the lockdown was implemented?

Clean Zone Ph’s 2019 was challenged. We confronted cleaning personnel’s drawbacks. We started 2020 strong. We were motivated and determined to recover. When the lockdown was implemented, we lost majority of pre-booked clients and we had to suspend cleaning contracts.

How did you do during the lockdown period?

We were paralyzed. At first we gruelingly worked against it, we served clients who are eager to get their properties cleaned and disinfected. We had to literally go around Metro Manila to transport our cleaning employees. It was not too long to run out of clients. Everyone was clueless of community quarantine’s condition. We were blessed with BPO clients who required our regular services. Our most unoccupied months were April and half of May. 

I on the other hand did not stop looking for solutions and ways to keep myself and the company afloat. I kept myself busy with research and online courses. I received a huge favor and got accepted in Go Negosyo’s Kapatid Mentor ME online program. My most quiet months were my fruitful chapter. I was humbled by seasoned mentors and mentees all over the Philippines. I had business realizations and Clean Zone Ph and our customers are the beneficiaries.

How did you innovate the way you sold your service to bounce back from the crisis?

We were blessed with countless learnings last 2019. Clean Zone Ph’s perspective to year 2020 is very positive. My self-talk dialogue is “you had impediments because you are being prepared for something massive”.  With a hopeful mindset, I was able to study Covid-19 in advance. We started offering disinfection service as early as February this year. When lockdown was implemented, we were out on the streets rendering meticulous disinfection procedures. We reached out to public about our mission to protect. We made our presence felt in social media. We had paid ads, I facilitated webinar sessions on proper disinfection protocols and gave out sincere tips on how to combat viruses. We strictly follow PEZA disinfection standards. Since ECQ we are one of the most sought after company for cleaning and disinfection service.

What is your advice to the Bounce Back community?

My advice to Bounce Back community is to have the RIGHT MINDSET at all times. No one is prepared for this pandemic. We could only predict and make assumptions base on the limited information available to all of us. We as a nation is resilient but someone needs to be ADAPTIVE, OPEN MINDED and AHEAD in giving solutions. PRAYER works, submit to Him and He will guide you. This pandemic is just a phase of life, we will survive this and in time, we will just reminisce on our experiences, make this a good one.
